I had only breastfed my daughter for a month only since I need to go back to work after a month of giving birth. And to tell you honestly, I did have regrets then, for the reason that breastfeeding has a lot of advantages for your child and for you as well. It is recommended to breast feed your child right after giving birth since the first few days, the breast milk has Colostrum that contains gamma globulin (antibodies) that can never be found in any artificial formula that is used by most mothers in feeding their child nowadays, especially those who are working moms. Breast milk has more vitamin A, C, D, E, than cow’s milk.
Breastfeeding is also one of the safest family planning methods which is also called Lactational Amenorrhea Method ( LAM ). The mother who is breast feeding her child is protected from pregnancy for the period of 6 months and until her menstruation has not yet return so, she will not yet get pregnant during this time. Since it is a natural planning method, there will be no hormonal side effects.
